Me in the army in 1991, note the long hair, i got to keep it. The Dutch army was pretty easy when it came to that (i was drafted), although i did have to shave i got to keep my long hairs :)

I also met a fellow soldier/metalhead who was in the US army who was stunned to see i got to keep my long hairs as his hair was cut off when he joined.

I only had to serve one year but definatly had a great time.
